James R. Williams, DMD
I love what I do! I have always enjoyed getting to know people and taking care of them. I love learning about our patients’ life experiences: where they have lived, what they have done, and what they are going to do.
I enjoy treating patients of ALL ages and especially like the preventative care we offer our patients here. I also enjoy the technology of modern dentistry and love being able to offer our patients wonderful new options to give them wonderful smiles with great, predictable results.
Education and Experience
I grew up in the small town of Leesburg, Florida. I attended Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina and received my Bachelor of Science in Biology and my Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 2000. While studying at Furman I met my wife, Candace Cuddy Williams, daughter of Mike and Carolyn Cuddy. In 2006, I completed my Doctorate of Dental Medicine degree at the University of Florida College of Dentistry in Gainesville, Florida. After dental school, I took my wife back to her hometown of Knoxville/Farragut, Tennessee where I then completed an optional 1-year General Practice Residency program at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville.
In 2007, after 40 years of service to the Knoxville community, repected dentist Dr. David Ackerson entrusted the care of his patients to me upon his retirement. I then established Turkey Creek Dental to continue his long tradition of excellence. Not only did I inherit wonderful patients, I also inherited a top-notch, cohesive dental team that has a combined 150 years of dental experience. I am proud of the friendly, caring and professional attitudes my staff members bring to my practice.
Outside the Office
I enjoy spending time with my wife and four wonderful children- Camden, Siler, Neyland and Rigsby. We love football, especially Tennessee football. I like to spend time outdoors hiking, playing and coaching sports for my children, boating or just working in the yard.
